New York reported the average highest weekly wage of all large U.S. counties in the third quarter of 2008 at $1,552, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Santa Clara County CA, part of Silicon Valley, posted the second-highest at $1,530.

The national average weekly wage in the third quarter was $841.

Horry County SC registered the lowest average weekly wage at $537.

Rutherford County TN posted the largest year-over-year growth in average weekly wages in the third quarter, up 17.3%. Yolo County CA reported the next-highest year-over-year increase at 9.7%.
