New York County posts highest Q1 wage

New York County, home to Manhattan, posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US county areas in the first quarter of 2015, while Olmsted County in Minnesota posted the largest year-over-year percentage increase in average weekly wage, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

New York County posted an average weekly wage of $2,847. Minnesota’s Olmsted County had the largest percentage year-over-year wage increase at 11.7%.

The average weekly wage nationwide in the first quarter was $1,048, a year-over-year increase of $22, or 2.1%.

The 10 large US counties with the highest average weekly wages in the first quarter:

  1. New York: $2,847
  2. Santa Clara, Calif.: $2,203
  3. Somerset, N.J.: $2,080
  4. San Francisco.: $2,070
  5. San Mateo, Calif.: $2,066
  6. Fairfield, Conn.: $1,938
  7. Suffolk, Mass.: $1,909
  8. Washington, D.C.: $1,764
  9. Morris, N.J.: $1,755
  10. Arlington, Va.: $1,732

The large US counties with the highest year-over-year increases in average weekly wage in the first quarter:

  2. Washington, Penn.: 10.7%
  3. Riverside, Calif.: 10.1%
  4. Lake, Ill.: 9.2%
  5. Orange, Calif.: 9.1%
  6. Weld, Colo.: 7.5%
  7. Bristol, Mass.: 7.5%
  8. Jefferson, Ala.: 7.1%
  9. Williamson, Tenn.: 6.9%
  10. Ottawa, Mich.: 6.8%
  11. Morris, N.J.: 6.8%
