New York County, which includes Manhattan, posted the highest average weekly wage of all large U.S. counties in the first quarter of this year at $2,634, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Fairfield County in Connecticut posted the second-highest average weekly wage at $1,888.
The average weekly wage for the U.S. as a whole in the first quarter was $935.
New York County ranked third in terms of number of jobs with 2.3 million in the first quarter. Los Angeles County ranked first with almost 3.9 million jobs.
