New York Adds 9,300 Temp Jobs

The number of temporary help services jobs in New York State rose by 9,300, or 10.4 percent, in May from the same month last year for a total of 98,700 jobs, according to data from the New York State Department of Labor that was not seasonally adjusted.

In the employment services industry, New York added 14,200 jobs in May compared to the same month last year for a total of 146,500 jobs. The employment services category includes temporary help services as well as employment placement agencies, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

According to seasonally adjusted numbers for all industries on a month-over-month basis, New York added 5,900 total nonfarm jobs in May compared to April. New York’s unemployment rate edged up to 8.2 percent in May from 8.1 percent in April.
