Nevada wins fastest-growing title

December 27, 2007
Nevada is the fastest-growing state, with a population increase of 2.9% between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today. Arizona, the fastest-growing state in the previous year, fell to second place.

Texas gained 500,000 people in that time period, the most of any state. California added the second most — just over 300,000.

Louisiana gained almost 50,000 people in the same period; it had lost 250,000 people in the prior year.
