Nevada posts highest jobless rate in April

Nevada posted the highest unemployment rate among all states in April at 7.1%, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. West Virginia followed at 7.0%, while Alaska and South Carolina both had unemployment rates of 6.7%. The District of Columbia had a rate of 7.5%.

Nebraska posted the lowest unemployment rate in April at 2.5%.

The national jobless rate was 5.4%, essentially unchanged from March and 0.8 percentage points lower than in April 2014.
