Nevada and Rhode Island post highest jobless rates

Nevada and Rhode Island posted the highest unemployment rates among all states in November at 9.0 percent each, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Michigan was next at 8.8 percent, followed by Illinois at 8.7 percent.

North Dakota posted the lowest unemployment rate in November at 2.6 percent.

The bureau noted that in the 12 months ended in November, nonfarm employment increased in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Only Alaska posted a decrease in employment.
