Nevada, Rhode Island among highest jobless

Michigan again posted the highest unemployment rate among states in August at 15.2%; Nevada and Rhode Island followed with rates of 13.2% and 12.8%, respectively, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

California and Oregon recorded the next-highest unemployment rates in August at 12.2% each.

The lowest state jobless rates could be found in the Dakotas. North Dakota registered the lowest unemployment rate among states at 4.3% in August. South Dakota posted the next-lowest at 4.9%.
