Nevada, California jobless rates among highest

While Michigan posted the highest jobless rate among states in April at 14.0%, it was followed by Nevada at 13.7% and California at 12.6%, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics.

North Dakota registered the lowest unemployment rate among states at 3.8%. South Dakota reported the second lowest rate at 4.7%, and Nebraska had the third-lowest at 5.0%.

Arizona, Indiana, Kansas and Virginia posted the largest month-over-month percentage increases in employment in April -- up 0.7% each. Maine posted the largest month-over-month percentage decrease in employment, down 1.1%.
