Netherlands – Sustained staffing industry growth continues

The number of hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands increased by +9% during period 11 (13 October – 9 November), according to the latest figures from ABU, the Dutch Federation of Employment Agencies.

This follows year-on-year growth of +10% in period 10 and +8% in period nine. The number of hours worked by temporary workers has increased, year-on-year, every period for the past year.   

Sales during period 11 increased by +9%, compared with the same period last year; following sales growth of +9% in period 10, and +7% in period nine. Sales have also increased every period for the past year.

  • The number of hours worked in the administrative sector during period 11 increased by +7%, while sales rose by +9%.
  • The industrial sector reported growth of +7% in the number of hours worked by temporary workers during period 11, while sales increased by +6% compared with last year.
  • The number of hours worked in the technical sector increased strongly by +19%, compared with last year, with sales growing by +16%, year-on-year. This marks the fourth consecutive period in which the technical sector reported double-digit growth in both the number of hours worked and sales compared with the same period the previous year.

Every four weeks ABU members deliver their sales and working hours figures to TNS-NIPO. This is called the ABU-Marktmonitor. The monitor represents more than 60% of the total staffing industry in the Netherlands.
