Netherlands – Staffing market continues strong growth

01 September 2015

There were 9% more hours worked by temporary workers in the Netherlands during the eighth period of 2015 (20 July – 16 August), compared with the same four-week period in 2014, according to the Dutch Federation of Employment Agencies (ABU). Sales during the period rose by 10% compared with last year.

Each year, ABU breaks the year into 13 four-week periods and provides sales and revenue information across three sectors.

  • The administrative sector increased 10% in hours, and also turnover grew 10% in comparison to the same period in 2014.
  • Hours in the industrial sector increased 5%, and turnover increased 6% compared to the same period last year.
  • Furthermore, the amount of worked hours in the technical sector increased 23%, and turnover increased 20%.

Every four weeks, ABU members deliver their turnover and working hours to the research firm, TNS-NIPO, who, in turn, produce the ABU-Marktmonitor. It is claimed that the monitor contains more than 60% of the total staffing industry in the Netherlands.
