Netherlands – Randstad invests in gaming-based career search platform

09 February 2016

The Randstad Innovation Fund has announced that it has invested in gamification career search platform, Pymetrics. The platform uses big data, neuro-science and gamification to help jobseekers with personal career and job recommendations.

Based on a combination of simple games of about 2 minutes each on a web or mobile interface, Pymetrics collects millions of data points and measures 90 dimensions, across cognitive and emotional traits. According to Pymetrics, the gamification career search platform assesses cognitive and personality traits using a series of neuroscience games, with the idea of making it easier than ever to understand where clients’ inherent characteristics can lead to success.

“Pymetrics is at the forefront of data science which gives graduates and job seekers powerful insights into their career and job opportunities”, Paul Jacquin, Managing Partner at the Randstad Innovation Fund, said. “Quality of hire and diversity greatly benefit from an unbiased understanding of a person’s profile.”

“Pymetrics looks to revolutionize talent management with the application of technologies,” Frida Polli, CEO and co-founder of Pymetrics, said. “The support of Randstad Innovation Fund both financially and as thought leader in the HR tech space is important to help us achieve our mission towards better diversity and career fit enabled by data science.”

The Randstad Innovation Fund is building a portfolio of early-stage HR technology investments. The fund has invested in other portfolio companies since its launch in March 2014 including Checkster, RolePoint, RiseSmart, Brazen, VONQ/Qandidate, twago , Gigwalk and most recently HR management platform Crunchr.

The size of the fund is around €50 million, and it’s making four to five investments per year with investments typically sized between €1 million and €5 million.
