Netherlands – Professionals confident about their careers

03 July 2015

The majority of Dutch professionals have confidence in their sector, business, and career, according to a survey from recruitment firm Robert Walters. The survey found that they also feel that they are able to influence their career path.

Despite the slow recovery of the economy, 93% of respondents stated that they were free or very free to make career decisions.

When asked what impacts their freedom, regarding career decisions, 47% cited labour market uncertainty, while 25% said it was a lack of choice. A third factor was a lack of knowledge of the labour market, which was cited by 16% of respondents.

Dutch professionals are confident about the future, with 88% revealing they have confidence in their sector, with 68% expressing confidence in the future of their current employer. The vast majority (88%) have confidence in their own careers.

This compares with a European average of 82% who were confident about their sector, 67% confident about their company, and 81% confident about their own careers.
