Netherlands – Online job adverts up by a fifth in Q3

The number of jobs advertised online across the Netherlands increased by +21.2% during the third quarter, compared with the same period last year, according to Big Data analytics tool, Jobfeed.

Although the number of jobs advertised decreased by -3.1% when compared with Q2 2014, the number of jobs in Q3 2014 was the highest level recorded during the third quarter since 2010.

After correcting for duplication, the number of jobs advertised online across the Netherlands between July and September 2014 was more than 335,000.

The retail sector continued to be the largest employment sector in the Netherlands, accounting for 22.4% of all online job adverts in Q3, an increase of +2.1% compared with Q3 2013. The healthcare sector accounted for 18% of all job vacancies in Q3 2012, but their share of new job adverts decreased to 13% in Q3 2014.

Despite a -1.3% decrease in the number of jobs advertised, year-on-year, more than a fifth (21.2%) of all jobs were based in South Holland. The strongest growth in job adverts was reported in Gelderland (+0.4%) followed by Flevoland (+0.3%).
