Nebraska, North Dakota post lowest jobless

Nebraska and North Dakota registered the lowest jobless rates among states in May at 4.4% each, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Michigan posted the highest unemployment rate among all states in May at 14.1%. The next-highest jobless rates were in Oregon, 12.4%; Rhode Island and South Carolina at 12.1% each; California, 11.5%; Nevada, 11.3% and North Carolina, 11.1%.

Jobless rates rose year-over-year in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
