National Technical staffing revenue down

National Technical Systems Inc.'s (NASD: NTSC) fourth-quarter revenue rose 4.3% to $30.5 million in its fourth-quarter ended Jan. 31 from $29.3 million in the fourth quarter of the previous year. However, the Calabasas CA-based company said revenue in its technical solutions division, which provides staffing, fell 8.4% to $7.6 million in the fourth quarter. National Technical Systems provides product testing, staffing, and other services.

Companywide fourth-quarter net income rose 8.7% to $623,000 compared with $573,000 in the same period in the previous year. Gross margin fell to 23.0% from 23.8%.

Full-year 2007 revenue rose 5.8% to $122.4 million from $115.7 million in 2006. Gross margin improved to 24.4% from 23.0%.

Full-year net income rose 65.4% to $2.6 million in 2007 from $1.6 million in the previous year.

Technical solutions division revenue, however, fell 10.7% in the last fiscal year to $31.8 million.
