Companies announcing hires and promotions include Impellam Group PLC, Futurestep, Pinnacle Technical Resources, Russell Reynolds, Pro Staff, Paychex, Odgers Berndston, Cook Associates and RiseSmart.

Impellam Group PLC appointed Shane Stone to its board of directors effective immediately. Stone is chairman of Group Mayfair Limited UK in Australia and executive chairman of the APAC group of companies.

Futurestep, a Korn/Ferry company (NYSE: KFY), announced the appointments of Doug Rippey as global practice leader, workforce planning, and Dave Marzo as general manager for consulting solutions in North America. Rippey worked at Towers Watson for more than 10 years, where he helped to form the Workforce Planning practice in 2003.

Pinnacle Technical Resources CEO Nina Vaca-Humrichouse was named to the board of directors of the Startup America Partnership. The Startup America Partnership, launched in January at the White House, is an alliance of major corporations, funders, service providers, mentors and advisors working to increase the prevalence and success of high-growth enterprises in the United States. Separately, Freddy Vaca, senior vice president of Pinnacle, was appointed to the board of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Russell Reynolds Associates, an executive search firm, named Todd Safferstone as managing director, global head of research and knowledge management, and Tim Silverman as director, marketing and communications for the Americas. Both will be based in New York City. Safferstone joins the firm after 11 years with the Corporate Executive Board. Silverman joins the firm after 14 years at the Corporate Executive Board.

Pro Staff, an Atterro company, promoted Joshua Smith to general manager for the Dallas/Fort Worth region. Smith joined Pro Staff in 2004 and has various positions, including managing director, group managing director and sales director.

Paychex, Inc. appointed Mark Bottini as senior vice president of sales, starting in mid-October. Most recently, Bottini served as vice president of sales for Ricoh, North America, a provider of advanced office technology and innovative document imaging products, services, and software. In previous leadership roles with Ricoh and its predecessors, Mr. Bottini has been responsible for service and operations as well as sales. He assumed his most recent position with Ricoh in 2008 when Ricoh acquired IKON Office Solutions Inc.

Odgers Berndtson announced that insurance industry executive search consultants Pat Corey and Paul Hanson have joined the firm’s insurance practice in the U.S. as partners in its Chicago office, effective immediately. Corey has more than 25 years’ executive recruiting experience, specializing in the insurance sector. Most recently, he was a senior client partner in the Insurance and Financial Services practice at Korn/Ferry International. Hanson, who has more than 15 years of insurance-specific executive search experience, comes to Ogden Berndtson from Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. (NASD: HSII).

Cook Associates Executive Search announced that Harry Wilson has joined the firm as a managing director. Wilson will support Cook’s financial services and insurance practice. Wilson joins Cook from Freddie Mac, where he was director of executive recruiting since 2006.

RiseSmart, an outplacement solutions firm, has named Kim Johnson as vice president of sales. Johnson comes from former Drake Beam Morin, where she served as senior vice president.
