Monster index rises two points

October 07, 2010

The Monster Worldwide Inc. U.S. employment index of online job demand rose to a reading of 138 in September, up two points from August and up 19 points from September 2009.

"Although we have seen the growth rate slow a bit over the last two months, it is encouraging that the index continues to show positive year-on-year growth during 2010," said Jesse Harriott, senior VP and chief knowledge officer at Monster Worldwide. "This is a clear sign that employers are recruiting in greater numbers than they were a year ago and bodes well for steady, but continued improvement in the U.S. labor market."

Monster's index is based on a review of online jobs ads taken from a selection of Web sites, including Monster.
