April 30, 2009

The Monster Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: MWW) employment index for Canada fell 19 points to a reading of 99 in the first quarter. It's down 50 points year-over-year.

"Canadian employers are continuing to show caution about staffing levels at this time and we are seeing the impact of that across the country in every job category, " said Peter Gilfillan, senior VP of sales and general manager of Monster Canada.

Monster's index is based on a review of online job ads taken from a selection of corporate career Web sites and job boards, including Monster.ca.
