Monster’s employment index of online job posting activity in the U.S. fell to a reading of 147 in July, down 6 percent from June, Monster Worldwide Inc. reported. On a year-over-year basis, the index is up 3 percent.

Fifteen of the 20 industries monitored for the index showed growth, including agriculture, forestry and fishing, while public administration and educational services were among the lowest growth industries.

The index is based on a review of online job ads taken from a selection of websites, including Monster.com.
