Michigan jobless rate edges down, still highest

Michigan's jobless rate edged down to 14.6% in December from 14.7% in November, but Michigan still posted the highest unemployment rate among states, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Nevada reported the second-highest unemployment rate in states in December at 13.0%. The Silver State's jobless rate had risen from 12.3% in November.

Rhode Island registered the third-highest jobless rate in December at 12.9%, up from 12.7% in November.

North Dakota again posted the lowest jobless rate among states in December at 4.4%, up from 4.1% in November.

States with the next lowest jobless rates were Nebraska and South Dakota with jobless rates of 4.7% each.
