Michigan posted the highest unemployment rate among all states in October at 15.1% despite adding 38,600 jobs, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment in Michigan rose by 1.0% in October from September -- the largest increase among all states.
Nevada reported the second-highest jobless rate in October at 13.0%. Rhode Island came next at 12.9% followed by California at 12.5%.
North Dakota posted the lowest jobless rate among states in October at 4.2%. It was followed by Nebraska at 4.9% and South Dakota at 5.0%.
