Michael Page International plc, a London-based professional staffing firm, reported fourth-quarter gross profit in its North America unit rose 6 percent on a constant currency basis compared with the fourth quarter of 2011. The firm reported that market conditions remain difficult in North America.

Fourth-quarter North America gross profit was £$6.3 million (US$10.2 million). 

The company has operations around the world. Total fourth-quarter gross profit fell on a constant currency basis by 3.6 percent to £126.5 million (US$204.3 million).
