Median CFO compensation hits $2.9 million

Median compensation for chief financial officers in place at least two years rose 5.2% to almost $2.9 million between 2007 and 2006, according to Equilar, a Redwood City CA-based firm that specializes in analysis of executive compensation. Median bonus payouts for CFOs fell 3.4%, but they received an 8.2% increase in median total equity compensation.

Total compensation includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, non-equity incentive plan payouts, the grant date value of stock and option awards and other compensation.
