MedPartners HIM, 3M Health Information Systems sign outsourcing agreement

September 20, 2013

3M Health Information Systems signed an agreement with MedPartners HIM to offer the company's credentialed clinical documentation improvement (CDI) staffing resources with 3M's ICD-10 and CDI consulting services and software. The integrated outsourcing service helps hospitals and health systems manage both interim and long-term CDI staffing required for organizational CDI initiatives and to prepare for ICD-10 implementation in October 2014.

The agreement was reached in June and terms were not disclosed.

“As 3M is a leader in clinical documentation improvement services, it is a natural fit to serve our customers with CDI staffing resources,” said Mary Kokkinen, public relations manager for 3M. “Many hospitals have difficulty in finding resources for either short term or long term positions. Hospitals are also concerned about the short term loss of productivity expected to impact CDI teams during the ICD-10 transition and we want to be there to support our customers during this critical time period.”

3M is already working with customers on this offering, Kokkinen said.

MedPartners HIM is the health information management unit of P2P Staffing Corp., a privately held professional staffing company based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
