Maryland Posts Biggest Staffing Gain, N.Y. Follows

Maryland posted the biggest year-over-year percentage increase in “employment services” industry jobs in December among 33 states tracked, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data was not seasonally adjusted.

The number of staffing jobs in Maryland rose 13.4 percent to 47,400 in December.

New York registered the second-highest percentage increase in staffing jobs, with employment services industry positions rising 9.9 percent to 153,300.

The employment services industry includes temporary help services as well as employment placement agencies, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Ohio posted the biggest loss in employment services jobs with a year-over-year decline of 6.8 percent in December to 115,000.
