Marine staffing firms partner in two markets

September 21, 2015

Venture Dynamics and Shipyard Staffing, two marine staffing firms providing skilled trade personnel to the ship construction and repair industry, today finalized a partnership to share resources in the ports of San Diego, Calif., and Jacksonville, Fla. The companies will remain competitors in the Hampton Roads, Va., market.

Because it is a partnership and not an acquisition, the transaction does not impact offices, executives or brands. Both companies will operate under their unique brands in their markets: Venture Dynamics in San Diego and Hampton Roads and Shipyard Staffing in and Jacksonville and Hampton Roads.

Terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

“Our clients have grown over the past few years and now operate across the country to serve the US Navy and other maritime players,” said Shipyard Staffing CEO Matt Malone. “This partnership with Venture allows us to put our clients’ productivity and efficiency first.”

“Our partnership with Shipyard Staffing creates the first national staff augmentation firm focused solely on the marine industry,” said Venture Dynamics CEO George Haley. “We are focused on delivering world-class talent to our clients to enhance their production needs, improving employee safety controls, and thus their profitability. With this strategic partnership, we will continue to deliver talent in Hampton Roads, VA, Mayport/Jacksonville, Fla., and San Diego, Calif.”

Private equity firm Succession Capital Partners acquired the Virginia division of Capital Consultants Inc., a Louisiana-based specialty marine staffing firm serving the ship repair and ship construction industry, and rebranded the division as Shipyard Staffing.

Jointly, the two companies have more than 1,000 employees placed with clients including General Dynamics, BAE and Huntington Ingalls Industries.
