ManpowerGroup Exec Chairman Jeffrey Joerres to retire

October 29, 2015

ManpowerGroup Inc. (NYSE: MAN), one of the world’s largest staffing firms, announced Jeffrey Joerres will retire as executive chairman and from the board of directors, effective Dec. 30. CEO Jonas Prising will assume the additional role as chairman.

Joerres, 55, joined ManpowerGroup in 1993. He was CEO from April 1999 to May 2014 and has served as chairman since 2001. During his tenure, ManpowerGroup grew from an $8 billion temporary staffing company, operating in 50 countries with one brand, to a $20 billion workforce solutions provider operating in 80 countries under four brands: Manpower, Experis, ManpowerGroup Solutions and Right Management.

Prising took over the CEO role from Joerres in May of last year — becoming only the fourth CEO for the company since it began in 1948 — and Joerres transitioned to executive chairman.

Both Joerres and Prising appear on The Staffing 100 list of most influential people in the staffing industry.

“Jeff's impressive contributions to ManpowerGroup span more than three decades,” said Prising. “In his 15 years as CEO he drove the expansion of the company with his client-first approach and strategic vision. Jeff has inspired and developed strong leaders across this business and his passion and energy for people and for creating opportunities has truly changed lives and instilled pride in this organization.  Jeff is a recognized thought leader in the world of work and his deep industry knowledge and labor market expertise have had a significant impact on our company, our industry and labor markets around the world."
