Manpower exec travels on Africa mission

February 17, 2009

Manpower Inc. (NYSE: MAN) said its president of corporate and government affairs, David Arkless, is traveling on a field mission to refugee settlements in South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia this week. The plan is to better understand the plight of the refugees and how Manpower might be able to help them find employment.

Arkless is on the mission with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Manpower is a member of the commissioner's council of business leaders, which also includes Microsoft Corp., Nike, Merck, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Young & Rubcam+WPP.

"Our ongoing work with the UNHCR is an example of leveraging our core competencies in partnership with governments and businesses that help to provide jobs and job training for refugees," Arkless said.
