Manpower buys Netherlands staffing firm

Manpower Inc. (NYSE: MAN) said today it acquired Vitae, a Netherlands-based professional staffing firm. Vitae places approximately 4,000 candidates a year in 12 specialist fields and has 1,200 temporary professionals who work primarily in the technology and finance sectors through the Vitae Interim Professionals brand. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Vitae began in 1986 and has 10 offices in the Netherlands. It will continue to operate under the Vitae brand name for the time being and its current directors will remain active with the company.

"The acquisition of Vitae is part of our ongoing strategy to broaden our portfolio of recruitment services within our Manpower Professional brand to provide our clients with all of the talent they need, particularly the technology and finance professionals that are currently in high demand," said Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Joerres.

The deal is before the Netherlands Competition Authority for approval.

Manpower's Netherlands operations include 150 offices with 900 consultants. It finds temporary or direct hire placement for approximately 50,000 at approximately 5,000 customers.
