March 24, 2008

More than half of chief information officers would entertain a call from a recruiter regarding a new job, according to a survey released by Harvey Nash USA, the U.S. division of London-based information technology staffing firm Harvey Nash Group PLC. Only 17% would not consider other jobs, 10% said they are actively seeking new jobs, and 18% are selectively applying for new jobs.

Of those seeking new jobs, 25% said they want a "fresh challenge." In addition, 22% said they wanted "expanded decision-making capabilities."

As for salary, the survey found that 70% of CIOs reported salaries of more than $125,000 and 22% said they received retention bonuses.

The survey was commissioned by Harvey Nash USA and sponsored by KPMG LLP. It was completed by 258 CIOs.
