Longtime Heidrick board member resigns

Longtime Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. (NASD: HSII) board member Gerard Roche resigned, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Roche had served in several top roles at the company over the years.

Roche joined Heidrick in 1964 as an executive recruiter and has been a member of its board since 1970. Roche was appointed Heidrick's president and CEO in 1978 and became chairman in 1981. Roche became senior chairman in 1999, and most recently served as a director. He also served as acting CEO between April 2003 and June 2003, according to BusinessWeek. He remains an active search consultant and has been named chairman emeritus, according to the company.

Heidrick also reported that Jane Hartley was elected to its board. Hartley is CEO and a founding principal of Observatory Group, an international economic and political advisory firm. Hartley has held other roles as well including director of Congressional relations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and other executive positions at private firms including as VP of Group W Cable.
