List ranks largest staffing firms in Canada

October 12, 2015

Staffing Industry Analysts released its list of the largest staffing firms in Canada. The annual list includes 24 staffing firms with C$50 million or more in Canadian revenue in 2014.

Combined, these firms generated C$4.9 billion in staffing revenue, which represents an estimated 50% of the total market.

Revenue estimates in this year’s report are limited to “staffing revenue” — defined as revenue related to temporary staffing, direct hire, retained search and temp-to-hire conversion fees — to allow for greater consistency and comparability of figures across firms. As a result of this change, revenue figures in this report are not strictly comparable with figures in last year’s report, which also included revenue related to “talent engagement,” which included MSP, RPO, PEO and online staffing.

“There are 19 companies that generated more than C$100 million in staffing revenue in Canada last year, underscoring the size of this staffing market,” said Research Manager Timothy Landhuis. “Although the oil and gas sector remains depressed currently, many other sectors are seeing growth, and we continue to believe that Canada has a legal and economic environment conducive to positive long-term growth prospects for its staffing industry.”

The five largest firms in Canada and their estimated 2014 Canadian staffing revenue:

  1. Adecco: C$623 million, 6% market share
  2. Randstad: C$580 million, 6% market share
  3. Allegis Group: C$475 million, 5% market share
  4. Design Group Staffing: C$328 million, 3% market share
  5. Procom: C$300 million, 3% market share
