List ranks largest engineering staffing firms

August 19, 2015

Aerotek (Allegis Group) ranks as the largest supplier of engineering staffing in the US, according to a new report released by Staffing Industry Analysts. The annual list of largest US engineering staffing firms includes companies with at least $50 million in the US engineering staffing segment in 2014. This year’s list included 23 firms with combined revenue of $5.4 billion, comprising 68% market share.

“As evidence of the continued sustained demand for engineering talent on a temporary basis, this year’s report includes 16 firms that generated more than $100 million in engineering staffing revenue,” said Timothy Landhuis, research manager at Staffing Industry Analysts. “These large suppliers typically provide a broad range of engineers and technicians, including mechanical, industrial, civil and electrical engineers.”

However, the market share held by the largest engineering staffing firms has declined over the past three years, according to the report.

“From 2008 to 2011, the market share of the five and 10 largest engineering staffing firms showed an increasing trend,” the report states. “However, from 2012 to 2014, the market share of these firms appears to have declined slightly.”

The five largest engineering staffing firms in the US and their estimated 2014 staffing revenue are:

  • Aerotek (Allegis Group): $1.3 billion, 16% market share
  • ENTEGEE (Adecco): $795 million, 10% market share
  • Kelly Services: $407 million, 5% market share
  • System One: $358 million, 5% market share
  • Volt Information Sciences: $300 million, 4% market share

Four firms appear in this year’s report that did not appear in last year’s ranking. The firms, in alphabetical order, are: Acro Service Corporation, BHI Energy|Staffing Solutions, Talascend and UP Professional Solutions.
