Latest Legs & Regs Advisor online; healthcare reform discussed

January 30, 2013

Staffing firms should analyze their workforce and assess likely burdens of healthcare reform, according to the January issue of the Legs & Regs Advisor produced by Staffing Industry Analysts in conjunction with employment law firm Littler Mendelson. The advisor weighs in on the latest developments to healthcare reform since the IRS released proposed regulation on employer penalties on Dec. 28.

The advisor also suggests staffing firms work with customers to discuss how to share incremental costs of healthcare reform. Staffing firms might also explore the options of health insurance.

“It may be especially feasible for staffing firms offering only professional staffing to offer coverage to all full-time employees, including contingent employees,” according to the advisor. “Staffing firms that do not plan to offer coverage to all full-timers may want to explore coverage alternatives for their internal staff, because the forthcoming discrimination rules may ban plans that cover only the internal staff.”
