Las Vegas posts highest jobless rate in April

The Las Vegas metropolitan area posted the highest unemployment rate in April, 7.1%, among all large metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The lowest jobless rate among large metropolitan areas in February was found in the Austin-Round Rock area in Texas at 3.0%, followed by Salt Lake City at 3.1%

Among metropolitan areas of all sizes, Yuma, Ariz., posted the highest jobless rate in April at 22.2%, followed by El Centro, Calif., at 21.2%.

Lincoln, Neb., posted the lowest jobless rate among metropolitan areas of all sizes at 2.1%.
