Las Vegas area posts highest jobless rate in February

The Las Vegas metropolitan area posted the highest unemployment rate in February, 7.2%, among all large metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The lowest jobless rate among large metropolitan areas in February was found in the Austin-Round Rock area in Texas, at 3.4%.

Among metropolitan areas of all sizes, El Centro, Calif., posted the highest jobless rate in February at 20.0%, followed by Yuma, Ariz., at 19.4%.

Lincoln, Neb., posted the lowest jobless rate among metropolitan areas of all sizes at 2.4%.
