The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits rose 1.8% to 669,000 in the week ended March 28 from the previous week's revised number of 657,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. The four-week moving average of claims rose 1.0% to 656,750 from the previous week's revised average of 650,250.
