The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits fell 8.4% to 565,000 in the week ended July 4 from the previous week's revised number of 617,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. The four-week moving average of claims fell 1.6% to 606,000 from the previous week's revised average of 616,000.
