Job openings relatively flat

The number of U.S. job openings in November was little changed from October at 4.0 million, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The job openings rate — a measure of job openings compared with total employment — remained at 2.8 percent.

The number of hires edged up 0.2 percent from October to about 4.5 million, and the number of separations rose 1.3 percent to approximately 4.3 million.
