Job openings, hires, separations decline

U.S. job openings, hires and separations all fell in February on a year-over-year basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Job openings fell by 29.2% year-over-year in February to 3.0 million. The job openings rate fell to 2.2% from 3.0% in the same period.

The number of hires declined 13.4% to 4.4 million year-over-year in February, and the hires rate fell to 3.3% from 3.7%.

Separations fell 5.3% year-over-year to 4.8 million in February. The separations rate edged down to 3.6% from 3.7%.
