The number of job openings on the last business day of October was little changed from September at approximately 3.7 million, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover report released today. The job openings rate — a measure of job openings compared with total employment — was 2.7 percent, up from 2.6 percent in September. On a year-over-year bases, the number of job openings is up 7.8 percent.
The number of hires rose 3.2 percent to 4,339 from the previous month, and the number of separations rose 1.7 percent to 4,084.
