Job Openings Hold Steady

There were 3.6 million job openings in September, essentially unchanged from August, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, the number of job opening is up 1.7 percent.

The number of hires dropped 5.7 percent from the previous month, and the number of separations fell 7.6 percent.
