Japan – Healthcare staffing firm SMS Co reports strong international growth

Japanese healthcare staffing provider SMS Co Ltd (2175: JP) reported revenue for the year ending 31 March 2015 of JPY 15.1 billion (USD 126.6 million), an increase of 25% compared with JPY 12 billion (USD 101.3 million) during the same period last year.

The company operates a number of websites specialising in services for older people. The company also operates recruitment and job board websites for healthcare professionals specifically looking to work in older people services.

Broken down by business segment, the strongest year-on-year growth was reported in Active Older People’s Services, which increased markedly from a small base.

In trading today, the company’s share price closed down 1.2% at JPY 1,458 (USD 12.26), an increase of 34.3% compared with a year ago. Based on its current share price, the company has a market value of JPY 61.1 billion (USD 513.4 million).
