Initial unemployment claims down 2%

The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits fell 2.0% to 623,000 in the week ended May 23 from the previous week's revised number of 636,000. The four-week moving average of claims fell 0.5% to 626,750 from the previous week's revised average of 629,750.
