India – Two-thirds of recruiters expect job creation in H2 2015

27 August 2015

Two-thirds (66%) of recruiters expect new jobs to be created in the second half of 2015, a slight dip compared to the 69% in the first half of 2015, according to the Naukri Hiring Outlook Survey August 2015, reports The Economic Times of India.

The half yearly survey, which gauges the hiring sentiment across sectors and industries, was conducted amongst more than 1,900 recruiters and consultants.

According to the survey, 41% of recruiters and consultants see the greatest hiring potential in the IT industry in the second half of 2015, despite decreasing from 56% of respondents making the same prediction in the first half of 2015.

A similar trend was seen in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector as well, where the percentage slipped from 28% in the previous period to 19% in the current period. The percentage of participants expecting new jobs to be created in the manufacturing sector remained constant at 26%.

The top five sectors from a perspective of job creation are IT, Manufacturing, Retail, IT-enabled Services, and BFSI.

Sumeet Singh, EVP - Marketing and Corporate Communications, Info Edge (India), commented: "The growth in hiring activity is led by the BFSI and IT industries and is most likely to continue in favour of jobseekers. The increase in opportunities has led to higher increments in certain industry segments. The crunch for mid and senior level talent, however, continues.”
