India – Strong growth in mid-level management recruitment expected

15 September 2014

The majority (70%) of employers across India intend to expand their teams over the next 12 months, according to the India Salary & Employment Forecast 2014-2015 from international recruitment firm Michael Page, reports the Press Trust of India.

According to the report: "India's business market is currently primed for expansion, with the recruitment market being driven by significant industry sectors such as FMCG (fast-moving-consumer-goods), retail, healthcare, manufacturing and real estate. About 70% of employers’ surveyed plan to expand their team."

Nearly half (45%) of employers advised that they are seeking highly competent professionals at the mid-to-senior management level. As a result, mid-level professionals will be in greatest demand in the coming year.

The report stated: “Companies are realising the value of developing employee skills and offering internal career opportunities, as senior level executives and human resources teams recognise the importance of retention strategies.”

"Managing turnover will continue to provide a major challenge for employers in the next 12 months, with 51% of surveyed employers expecting staff to leave their business in the coming year,” it added.
