Impellam's U.S. revenue falls 26%

Impellam Group PLC, a United Kingdom-based staffing firm, reported this week its U.S. staffing revenue for the first six months of 2009 fell 26.4% year over year in U.S. dollars. Total U.S. was GBP85.2 million (US$140.7 million).

Revenue for the entire company in the first half of 2009 was GBP500.9 million (US$827.5 million), down 2.8% compared with the same period in 2008. Gross margin fell to 16.7% from 18.3%.

The company reported a loss of GBP1.4 million (US$2.3 million) for the first half of the year compared with a net loss of GBP3.4 million in the first half of last year.

Impellam reported results for 2008 on a pro forma basis as if the merger of Corporate Services Group PLC and the Carlisle Group Ltd, which combined to form Impellam in May 2008, had been in effect throughout the first half of 2008.

Impellam's U.S. operations include Corestaff Services.
