Impellam U.S. Revenue Edges Down

July 27, 2011

U.S. staffing revenue at Impellam Group PLC ticked downward 0.9 percent in the first six months of 2011 when compared with the same period in the previous year, as measured in dollars, the company reported. Total U.S. staffing revenue was £80.5 million (US$128.9 million) in the first half.

The company’s U.S. commercial, professional, technical and managed services brands posted revenue growth ranging from 4.3 percent to 15.7 percent when measured in U.S. dollars. “However, these revenue gains were mostly offset by the exit of contracts from prior periods,” according to the company.

Total revenue at Impellam rose 0.9 percent to £549.4 million (US$880.0 million) in the first six months of 2011 compared with £544.4 million last year.

The company's gross margin improved to 16.6 percent in the first half of 2011 from 16.3 percent in the first six months of 2010.

“I am pleased to announce that Impellam’s operating profit of £16.2 million for the first half of the year achieved the group’s plan expectation,” said Chairman Cheryl Jones. “The group’s strategy to build competitive market sustainability requires both the reevaluation of marketing and sales initiatives and improvement in revenue quality, while continuing business reengineering programs. These initiatives have been successful to date.”

Profit for the period rose 43.2 percent to £11.6 million (US$18.6 million)

Based in the U.K., Impellam’s U.S. operations include Corestaff Services, Leafstone, Guidant Group, InfoCurrent, S.Com and SRG Woolf.
