Impellam Group plc, a U.K.-based staffing provider, reported North America staffing revenue rose 6.1 percent (as measured in U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2012 compared to the first half of 2011. U.S. staffing revenue totaled £87.6 million (US$136.8 million) in the first half of the year.
Impellam’s North American brands include Corestaff and Guidant.
North America gross profit rose 1.0 percent as measured in U.S. dollars.
Total revenue at Impellam rose 7.6 percent to £590.9 million (US$922.7 million) in the first half of the year compared to the first half of last year. Gross margin narrowed to 14.6 percent from 16.6 percent.
“Revenue growth of 7.6 percent exceeded plan, though margins have tightened under difficult current market conditions,” said Chairman Cheryl Jones. “However, focus on the quality of the revenue base should position the group favorably as when markets recover.”
Profit for the period fell 19.8 percent to £9.3 million (US$14.5 million).
